TOOL Fans Pissed At TOOL For Not Playing “Two Unique Sets” At Their Festival

When Tool announced their Tool Live In The Sand festival, they promised their two headlining slots on March 7 and 8 would deliver “two unique sets.” That didn’t quite happen and fans were pretty pissed off.

Tool‘s second set on March 8 consisted of eight songs, half of which they had performed the night before. This led to some people in the crowd booing the band and one even hanging a “Fuck Maynard James Keenan” sign outside their hotel room. The two sets were:

March 7

  1. “Stinkfist”
  2. “Fear Inoculum”
  3. “Rosetta Stoned”
  4. “Pneuma”
  5. “Jambi”
  6. “Schism”
  7. “The Grudge”
  8. “The Flood”
  9. “Invincible”
  10. “Vicarious” (first time since 2020)

March 8

  1. “Fear Inoculum”
  2. “Ænema”
  3. “Rosetta Stoned”
  4. “Pneuma”
  5. “Jambi”
  6. “Descending”
  7. “Chocolate Chip Trip”
  8. “Intolerance”
  9. “Swamp Song”

And fine – if Tool promised two unique sets then maybe they should’ve dug a little deeper into their catalog to bust out an additional four songs they didn’t play the night before. That’s fair. Doubly so considering fans felt they were ripped off by a shorter set on the second night.

But booing a band and hanging signs about it seems a little childish, especially considering this was effectively a vacation for fans with some great bands playing. A little bit of an overreaction, huh? Nobody hates Tool quite like Tool fans.
