Rock Credits

  1. I agree with the top 3 however I would swap Appetite For Destruction and Dark Side of the Moon. I also believe you have to have at LEAST 1 of Bob Dylan’s Holy Trinity albums

  2. This video should had be named "top seller albums of all time". I wonder why we tend to quote sells as a matric of quality, besides, you can´t go wrong to pick any of the mentioned albums on a rushed selection.

  3. Thank you, Brendon, for sharing the link. Most of these would not make my top ten, although I could understand why you chose them as they are considered classics in most circles. The closest one would be Boston, but I am wondering if it would make my top ten. It probably would.

  4. The only honest way I have ever been able to do a top ten albums was to just go by what albums I have listened to the most over the years, I think it would be impossible to make a top ten that would only consist of the rock standards.

  5. Top-10 rock albums of all time in my view:

    10. Surfer Girl (1963)
    9. Imagine (1971)
    8. Metallica (1991)
    7. The Joshua Tree (1987)
    6. Deep Purple in Rock (1970)
    5. Please Please Me (1963)
    4. Led Zeppelin (1969)
    3. The Dark Side of the Moon (1973)
    2. Pet Sounds (1966)
    1. The Doors (1967)

  6. Oasis' "Whats The Story Morning Glory", or "Definitely Maybe" were not greatly influential at all, but in terms of quality and great music I think deserve a shout.
    In my opinion anyway

  7. Hi Brendon, I'm looking at checking out some CDs by bands I do not have in my collection and I thought I may get a CD by Krokus. From what I have read, it seems that their album 'Headhunter' may be a good place to start. Their final four albums also received strong reviews. Do you have any album recommendations for them?

  8. Back in Black and Appetite for Destruction are two albums I can live without now, sick and tired of both albums as they are overplayed on radio. In fact I was not a GNR fan. AC/DC I am just sick and tired of that album being played on the radio OVER AND OVER AND OVER (I hear Hells Bells, Shoot to Thrill, title cut, You Shook Me All Night Long, Have a Drink on Me and Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution 24/7 on all radio stations and I am burned out, same with Appetite, Sirius XM overkilled it on the Hair station and Boneyard).

The Top 10 Rock Albums for me are as far as impact on rock and roll in general and game changers :

    1) Dark Side of the Moon – Pink Floyd (meant to be heard as a whole album and can't play standalone songs)
    2) Led Zeppelin IV – Led Zeppelin
    3) Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band – The Beatles (first Beatles album where it was all no singles released and is to be heard in whole)
    4) Moving Pictures – Rush (this was Rush's pinnacle and their Dark Side of the Moon IMHO)

    5) A Night at the Opera – Queen (only Best Friend and Bohemian is played, Death on Two Legs, Love With My Car and The Prophet's Song alone make this a classic)
    6) Hotel California – The Eagles (since I don't listen to radio anymore and I listen to songs as an album and radio doesn't touch Wasted Time through The Last Resort but I admit they play title cut, New Kid in Town and Life in the Fast Lane regularly on classic rock stations)
    7) Who's Next – The Who (they topped Tommy and most of the album save Baba, Bargain, Blue Eyes and Fooled is not touched on radio)
    8) Born to Run – Bruce Springsteen (this album was Springsteen's opus and had his only prog rocker Jungleland on it)
    9) Nevermind – Nirvana (ended glam metal and ushered in grunge, only four of 13 songs get played but rest is overlooked)
    10) Paranoid – Black Sabbath (helped shape what became metal)

    Honorable mentions :

    Van Halen self titled
    Boston self titled
Genesis The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
Iron Maiden The Number of the Beast
    Metallica Master of Puppets
    Def Leppard Pyromania

In fact I covered Dark Side, Sgt Pepper, Opera, Hotel and Born to Run on my show. Nevermind is an upcoming episode as is Led Zeppelin IV and Moving Pictures although it will be Rush 1981 (as I also cover Exit…Stage Left).

  9. Burn deep purple…..led zeppelin Iv…..thunder and lightning thin lizzy………heaven and hell black sabbath……long live r n r rainbow……powerage ac dc….number of the beast iron maiden…..overnight sensation motorhead…..lock up the wolves Dio…….don't look back Boston….!!!!!

  10. What is the definition of rock?
Is the west coast rock by bands like Eagles, Poco, JD. Souther, Warren Zevon, Jackson Browne not rock?
And if your list is based of copies sold, Hotel California by the Eagles will win that contest

  11. Not many on your list that would be on mine. Some could arguably be on the list. Dark Side of the Moon is one that most would agree with you but is maybe my 3rd favorite Pink Floyd album. A little overrated in my opinion although it is a great album. Some are strange picks. Def Leopard ? Guns and Roses? No Beatles albums? So many better albums left off list.

  12. No way Def Leopard should be on this list much less Hysteria. That was awful compared to Pyromania. But neither should be I. a top ten of all time rock albums list. GnR should not be on the list either. Great album but top 10? No way!

  13. Great List
    My List Would Be
1 AC/DC -Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
2 Pink Floyd- Dark Side Of The Moon
    3 Led Zeppelin- Physical Graffiti
    4 Queen- The Game
    5 Lynyrd Skynyrd- Pronounced
    6 Black Sabbath- Vol 4
    7 AC/DC – Highway To Hell
    8 Kiss- Hotter Than Hell
    9 Metallica- Ride The Lightning
10 Pink Floyd- Wish You Were Here
