Mastodon hit the stage on February 28 at the BRIC in Brooklyn, NY, though there weren’t any instruments involved. Instead, Mastodon discusses how Herman Melville‘s 1851 novel Moby-Dick influenced their 2004 album Leviathan alongside composer Jake Heggie, who scored the 2010 opera about Melville‘s classic novel, plus composers Tamar-kali and David T. Little.

Speaking of Mastodon live, they’re gonna be touring with Coheed And Cambria and Periphery this May and June. The tour kicks off on May 10 at Salem Civic Center in Salem, VA and wraps up about a month later on June 8 at Vibrant Music Hall in Waukee, IA. Tickets are available here.
