Personally I think this was a step down from The Fear of Fear. Overall a good album, but not great like I was hoping.

An album that lives up to the circumstances, think that it is half as old as other bands in the scene. Like architects who released an empty album. Spiritbox became a basic guide to the scene.

I didn't listen to the singles apart from Soft Spine. So my opinion wasnt tainted by comparing new songs to ones Ive already memorized and fallen in love with. I havent really skipped singles before any album before, but im glad i stopped when they announced an album and that soft spine ended up being fairly unique. It was a an experiment that was worth it, lol

I think this album is a pretty good experimental album. I do not think they attempted to offer a masterpiec album in terms of bringing all "single-like songs" but telling a whole story within it. And the reason i think i am correct is the fact that the more you listen to the album, the more it deepens in your feelings, like if it was a perfect glass of balanced pure water. It is the best way i can find to express how it feels to listen to it as a whole, without prejudge, knowing bout the lyrics and ev. It really is one of the best metalcore experience on the last 5 years next to Invent Animate´s Greyview or Sleep Token´s Take me Back to Eden.

Huuuge Portishead vibe in Ride The Wave, probably my favorite from the album, but the rest, singles especially, are great too

Cher vocal effect in Crystal Roses lol. Very interesting song. The Spiritbox songs that stand out to me have to have Courtney's clean vocals in it she has an amazing voice and at the right moments in the song when she does her brutal screams elevating it so the perfect example of a song like that for me on this album would be A Haven With Two Faces cause that has a very atmospheric melodic break into the heavy part and it gives me goosebumps that's probably my standout non single from this album. Also really enjoyed Keep Sweet, Tsunami Sea & Deep End and Ride The Wave is a grower for me! The first two tracks Fata Morgana & Black Rainbow to me are just your standard heavy tracks nothing really stands out just heaviness I need melody in there Perfect Soul captures that perfectly

I absolutely adore spiribox, but in my opinion architects new album is so much better. The opener catched my attention from the very beginning

Overall I feels like a darker/heavier album than Eternal Blue. Not sure which I like more so far right now, but it is good and I like it nonetheless. A lot of things on it also reminds me of/gives me vibes of their early stuff/first EPs too, the black and white aesthetic they’ve brought back for one that it seems they're calling back to the first EP era with sure, but also a song like Haven With Two Faces and the way it's structured definately reminds me of their more progressive/unusually structured stuff like the Mara Effect suite, so in a lot of ways this album feels like a mix between Eternal Blue and their earlier stuff.

From first listen, I didnt like it as much as Eternal Blue I think, but its grown on me since for sure, and now a lot of the non-singles really stand out to me so far and have me wanting to come back to them (Fata Morgana, Keep Sweet, Tsunami Sea, Haven With Two Faces, Ride the Wave, and Deep End). That intro riff in Tsanami though! 🤘 Very Architectsy. And Deep End weirdly strongly reminds me of something/some melody just on the edge of my mind, Sad Cartoon by Loathe from their I Let it In album for sure, but maybe another song as well (maybe one by Make Them Suffer? or Periphery now that you mention it).

I was really disappointed with the album on my first listen because I also thought it'd be a bit more aggressive because of the singles. Now after I've listened to it a few more times, it's grown on me a lot and I quite enjoy it.

I was completely blown away by the title track. I really didn't think the album was going to be this good. Eternal Blue was great, but this is just breathtakingly beautiful.

I like how this album has more variety in vocal delivery compared to eternal blue. We have the cleans, the digital edited vocals, the heavies, and this higher pitched screaming throughout the album that wasn’t present in the previous album

I came into this album I think having too high expectations like Steve. While it wasn’t bad, I was expecting juuuust a little more.

However, after listening again and again over a few days, I absolutely LOVE everything about this album. Everything grows on you and it’s incredible. This is an album of growers IMO.

Deep End is probably my favourite track cause it gets me emotional every listen, knowing the backstory that Courtney wrote this song for Bill, their former bassist who passed away not long ago…. R.I.P. Bill

Nice to hear a take which isn’t this album is incredible. I hadn’t heard any singles, knew which ones they were and I agree with you they are stronger songs. Crystal Roses I loved for how different it was. For me, where Courtney’s vocals comes to the forefront are the songs I enjoy more, few too many where they fade into the background. Josh inclusion in some songs is fantastic, he has such a great voice. See if the album grows on me

Your first listen was so similar to my own. But I instantly liked Ride the Wave as one of my favorites. That chorus is amazing.

After 4-5 listens this week I think Ride the Wave and Haven with Two Faces are my top 2 on the album. Perfect Soul is my favorite single. I definitely agree that on first listen I was thinking I enjoy Eternal Blue more. I probably still enjoy Eternal Blue more, but this one is definitely gonna grow on me.
