A Metal Legend Returns
Produced from 1983 to 1991, the BOSS HM-2 Heavy Metal is a true legend in the history of distortion pedals. Its signature “chainsaw tone” with all knobs maxed is the defining voice of Swedish death metal, and the slightly milder sides of its personality can be heard on tracks from mainstream to shoegaze. After years of requests from hardcore HM-2 fans, the iconic stomp is now reborn three decades later in a special Waza Craft edition. The HM-2W delivers the authentic analog sound of the original in all its glory, coupled with lots of modern refinements for enhanced performance.

Boss, please make at BF2W Flanger and PH2W Super Phaser 🙂
ひでぇ音。。。
And for the fraction of the price you can have this exact sound with a behringer hm300. Why spend 100+ for a pedal that does one sound? silly.
🤘🤘🖤
Excelente video!
Played this video while bored in a Zoom meeting.
Accidentally had the mic open.
No regrets
Clicked like before the start of the video 🙂 amazing
ds-2 wも作って!
Had my original stolen from me and my Angry Driver needs a friend… the black and white knights of Boss..
Am I the only one who thinks this is the wrong style riffs for the hm2? Where's the grind?
Why, BOSS, why…!?!?? HM-2 is the worst distortion pedal. Please re-issue the Digital Metalizer MZ-2. Smooth distortion. !!!
This thing sounds awful. I don't get it. Who even listens to or plays Swedish death metal…it's such a small niche as to be insignificant. I owned an original HM-2 which I bought new back in 1985…I couldn't get rid of it fast enough. If they're going to reissue anything they should do the DA-2 Adaptive Distortion…that thing is awesome. BOSS multidimensional processing ( MDP ) is where it's at.
The dude didn’t even showcase the Chainsaw tone even once. The vid said “chainsaw” but that wasn’t chainsaw.
What amp are you playing through???
Very interesting. No my bag of nuts but very heavy like my last girlfriend
What are the signal chains for these sounds?
Best distortion pedal ever, I have one from 1986, far better than MT-2 for 70-80 metal or underground 90s like Black – Death Metal, MT-2 is a modern sounding fake rectifiesque (with mods) and can of bees (stock).
The guitarist is fucking brutal
My boss from 1984 never sounded anything like this one.it sounded low gain.all th way up even.
Great, to bad you are selling it more expensive then what the originals from the 1980s go for out on the market now… X'D
There is no way in hell this thing should cost more then maximum 100 dollars!
the sound is not so fantastic 🙁
How about a non-produced sound without all the backing shit?
/ <—- set and forget
Can it do classic rock ?
I got mine today. I love it! I turn the hi mix down low and level up to make for the loss of level, and get a thick compressed sound. Look forward to experimenting with it.
Stellar sounding Pedal + great player. Also thanks for including a guitar with single coils in this demo. Will buy.
Finally
Nice strat
I wish Boss never reissued the HM2. Now there’s hipsters galore using the chainsaw sound. I loathe hipsters.
Novo e ao mesmo tempo clássico, acho legal!
But why do they have like 10 different metal pedals? CONFUSED!
Awesome!
Sounds like metal muff!🤣🤣
Definitely a “must have” on my list now!
That's John Browne! m/
0:00 Love the classic "all dials to max" here
I was looking to buy new pedals and then I decided to take a look at my BOSS pedals. This and my SD-1, I never knew what I was missing. In a quest to find the right and usable pedal, I was blinded by the fact to go buy and buy new pedals. Now I’m rebuilding my pedalboard consisting of Roland(re-202) and BOSS pedals, maybe the Ibanez Twin Peak Wah also. Keep it simple.
Has me wondering with such good quality is the recording cleaned up any??? Sounds very studio esk.
I literally keep coming back to this demo for the killer music. Self taught but if I ever get to have lessons and they ask what I want to be able to do, I will just show them this video
How is the Stratocaster tuned?
Am buying one 😀 I recorded my first album with only 2 fx pedals: A Jim Dunlop Crybaby (original) and a Boss HM2. Cheap Harmony LP copy guitar through a JCM800. Here's that album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsTfb5vq7ks
Robert Smith from the cure secretly demoing this pedal for you
What's killer about the HM-2 is that it also sounds incredible going into a Marshall at low gain.
When used professionally , there is more scope to it than I thought , but when cranked full , that is the sound it was made famous for… but through a clean channel , not distorted ( for me )
lets be honest. it is garbage. I owned it couple years ago and sold 1 month after. nothing like videos just go to a store and try it and do not order without trying.
